Margie's Mom still in the hospital. Her blood

James Madison McDaniel, age 86, of Rutherfordton, NC, died on Monday,
January 21, 2008, at White Oak Manor Nursing Home in Rutherfordton.
September 24 Jason Flack, husband of Gayle Flack, has been moved to White Oak Nursing home in Tryon.
The pastor's
brother-in-law, Richard Hudson, is home from the hospital. He came home
Sunday (Sept 23)
August 8 Kolen Flack was taken to Hospital in Marion on Sunday (Aug 5) night. He apparently had a stroke. They are moving him to Asheville on Tuesday because cat scan revealed he had bleeding on the outside of the brain. August 2 Pearl Barnette was taken to Rutherford Hospital when she fainted on Tuesday (July 31). She was then transferred to Charlotte on Wednesday where they are still running tests.
Alfred Jason
Flack had fallen and broke his hip. He is at home recovering.
Fay Flynn has
been to the emergency room several times for apparent heart problems, but
the tests are coming back negative.
Helen Strickland
(Anna St. Clair's mother) has returned home to Carolina House after spending
several days in the hospital with an infection.
July 24
Helen Strickland,
Anna's St Clair's mother, is back in the hospital for weakness and loss of
blood.
Alfred Jason
Flack, Gayle's husband, fell on Saturday (July 21) at home and broke his
hip. He is also at Rutherford Hospital.
June 24
Ella Blankenship
has been confined to the bed and wheelchair. She was taken to Rutherford
Hospital on Thursday when she was experiencing pain in the left hip, the one
that was broke when she fell in May.
Frank Nanney had
outpatient surgery on Friday to have a stint put in so that he might pass a
kidney stone. He is at home recovering.
Michael Tate is
able to eat solid food again after having surgery to repair his broken jaw
he suffered when someone hit him at school.
Jiggs, the
pastor's father, is doing ok. He has reached a point where he is not
getting any stronger or better in his mobility. In fact he may be a little
worse.
Marjorie's mother
is having a biopsy on July 5 in Atlanta.
Cynthia Ammons
is getting married on July 14.
May 27 Ella Blankenship fell on Sunday morning (May 27) and broke her hip while out in her yard. Her niece, Norma, was there with her. She is scheduled for surgery tomorrow, Monday (May 28). May 12
Eugenia Flack
passed away yesterday afternoon (May 11). Funeral services will be held on
Sunday (May 13 - Mother's Day) at Round Hill Baptist Church at 3:30 PM with
the family receiving friends after the service.
May 3 Eugenia Flack fell at her home yesterday (May 2) and broke her hip. She is having surgery today (May 3) at Rutherford Hospital. The Union Mills Club of the NC State Extension Community Association (ECA) meets the first Thursday of every month, 6:30 pm, at the Union Mills Club House. Come and be a part of your community - meet your neighbors, make new friends. His funeral services are Wednesday at 11:00 AM at MacMahon's Funeral Service. Visitation with the family is one hour before the service. March 25 Patty Arledge was married to Paul Nanney at the Thermal City Methodist Church at 12:30 PM. Members of Round Hill Baptist Church were in attendance. March 9
After spending
several days in the hospital in Charlotte, Frank Nanney is coming home today
(March 9). They have done several tests on Frank and after finding some
blockages in the cardiac arteries they have decided to treat them with
medication. Continue to be in prayer for Frank as he will be on some new
medications and that his recovery time for his hospital stay will be quick.
Gardner Webb University is still planning on a ground breaking ceremony for
the Frank A. Nanney building on March 22, 2007.
Also, Alvin
Nanney got a good report from the doctors in Oteen concerning a spot that
was seen on some lung x-rays. They have determined at this time that the
spot is scar tissue.
Praise the Lord
for both of these good reports.
March 4 Frank Nanney drove himself to the hospital late Friday night (March 2) with problems breathing. They admitted him to ICU at Rutherford Hospital with some fluid build-up around heart and lungs. He was resting well and comfortable on Saturday and probably going home in a couple of days. There were some medical signs that he suffered a heart attack but the tests were inconclusive. February 25

Februry 23 Jiggs (Preacher's Lynn father) was taken to the hospital in Atlanta. Lynn had taken Jiggs to see his doctors in Atlanta when Jiggs passed out on Wednesday Feb 21). After many tests it has been determined that he had a rapid heartbeat and this used up all his oxygen causing him to pass out. He will be in the hospital through the weekend so that they can continue to monitor him and make sure new medications are given to him in the right dosage. February 16 Clyde Shook passed away on Wednesday evening (Feb 14). His memorial service will be at the church on Friday (Feb 16) at 2:00 PM. The family will greet friends after the service. Charles Nanney's wife Grace passed away
yesterday (Jan 28). Services are Tuesday in Greenville.
Brenda Thomason is having outpatient surgery
on Wednesday (Jan 31) in Spartanburg. She is having a lumpectomy.
January 27 Alvin Nanney was taken by ambulance to the Emergency Room at Rutherford Hospital on Friday (Jan 26). He has pneumonia in the right lung. He was admitted to the hospital. January 22 Louise Keck came home. She did not have a heart attack. After the heart catheterization and EKG found everything normal, she was released from the hospital. They were not able to remove all of the brain tumor from Grace Nanney (Charles Nanney's wife). She will undergo radiation and chemo treatments. January 21
This past Friday (Jan 19) Louise Keck had
some chest pains when she went to Hickory to see her brother who was in
hospice. The family took her to the hospital in Hickory where she was
examined and admitted thinking she had suffered a heart attack. All the
tests came back negative and the pains were attributed to stress and the
heart-break of seeing her brother in that condition. She came back home
on Sunday evening and she is resting at home. Her brother, Boyd
Isenhour, that she visited at the Hospice care did pass away that Friday
evening. His funeral is Tuesday (Jan 23) in Hickory.
Barbara Nanney had outpatient surgery on
Monday morning (Jan 22) and was back home that afternoon with a good
report from the doctor that everything went well.
Charles Nanney's wife Grace had surgery
last week (Jan 14-20) to remove a brain tumor. They were not able to
remove all of the tumor and she is to under go radiation and chemo
treatments. Charles said that on Sunday night she was able to recognize
him and her children.
Keith Flack, Jason's brother, had
emergency hernia surgery on Friday (Jan 19). He is at Rutherford
Hospital and recovery is going well.
David Jaynes, a member of the church and
resident on Horn Mill Rd. passed away on Saturday. Funeral is Tuesday
(Jan 23) at McMahans.
Clyde Shook is still at Hospice.
Barbara Evans has a grandson, Sean Evans,
who is serving our country in Iraq.
January 11 Pete Flack came home yesterday (Jan 10). He is doing very well. January 10 Pete Flack (Jason's Dad) was taken to Charlotte Hospital with chest pains on Monday (Jan 8). They performed a heart catheterization and had to put in a splint during an operation today (Jan 9). He is doing well and expected to come home in the next couple of days. January 1
Clyde Shook was taken to Rutherford Hospital on Saturday evening. He was
admitted overnight. He has been moved to Hospice on Sunday afternoon (Dec
31). They think he may have had another stroke, have some type of infection
in his body. He is lethargic and does not respond at times. They also
report that his kidneys are failing.
Tracey Flack is also at Rutherford Hospital after having colostomy
surgery.
December 31 Barbara Evans joined the church. December 28 Its a boy! Alden Douglas Grondahl has arrived. Jaime had her baby Tuesday night (Dec 26). 8 lbs 9 oz and 20 inches long, it is a keeper. Baby and Mom are doing fine. December 21 Gladys Nanney passed away Wednesday night (Dec 20). Funeral plans are for Saturday at 2:00 PM at the church. Family and friends visit one hour earlier. The church will do a lunch for the family at 12:00. December 20 Gladys Nanney was admitted into Rutherford Hospital today (Dec 20) and placed in ICU. She was non-responsive to workers at the nursing home this morning and they called EMS. She has an urinary tract infection that has entered her blood stream. Her blood pressure has fallen and her oxygen levels are also low. They have given her breathing treatments for her asthma, antibiotics for the infection, and fluids for dehydration. They have her listed in critical condition.
Alvin Nanney was taken Monday (Dec 18) to the
VA Hospital in Oteen with flu-like symptoms. They admitted him with a
diagnosis of possible pneumonia when his oxygen level was low.
Brian St. Clair was taken to Carolina Medical
in Charlotte on Monday (Dec 18) with chest pains. They put in a stint in
one of the arteries. This is the second stint he has received. The
blockage was in a different place than the one previously discovered. He is
expected to come home Wednesday (Dec 20).
December 19
Brian St. Clair was taken to Charlotte
hospital last evening (Dec. 18th) and
on his birthday today (Dec. 19th) he received
another stint. He hopes to
come home tomorrow (Dec. 20th)
December 18
Carol Radford (Christine Ammons' sister) came
through the knee replacement surgery very well. She will be at Rutherford
Hospital for a few more days. (Dec 18).
Alvin Nanney was admitted to the VA Hospital
in Oteen, NC yesterday (Dec 18) morning with flu like symptoms and possibly
touch of pneumonia. His oxygen levels were low so they admitted him into
the hospital.
December 16
Betty Flack came home yesterday (Dec 15)
after her surgery to implant a pacemaker. Everything went well with the
surgery and she is doing well.
Jackie Wallace (Jack Nanney's daughter) is
home and recovering after her surgery for perforated intestine. She will
return for the follow-up surgery in a couple of months. She is doing well.
Heidi (Jack's granddaughter & Jackie's
daughter) will not have to undergo surgery at this point for her hearing.
She will, however, have to be fitted with a hearing aid.
Carol Radford scheduled for knee replacement
surgery on Monday, December 18.
December 10
Jack & Barbara Nanney's daughter, Jackie, had
to have surgery this past week. She had come down with the stomach virus
that is going around and went to the hospital for dehydration. Then it was
discovered she had a tear in her intestines. Surgery was done to correct
the perforation in the intestine. Then yesterday it was discovered she has
contracted the E Coli virus.
Jack & Barbara's grand-daughter, Heidi, goes
to see a specialist in Atlanta because of a loss of hearing.
Barbara Evans came back home Friday (Dec. 8)
after an extended stay in Florida with a clean bill of health.
Betty Flack, Jason Flack's mother, is
scheduled for surgery in Charlotte on Thursday
(Dec. 14) for a pace maker.
December 2 James O'Neil was found dead today. Apparently it was a heart attack. I will let you know more information as I get it.
December 2 Pat Allen is home now and doing well.
December 1, 2006 Mrs. Juanita Dowdle Nanney, age 79, of Union Mills, NC, died on Wednesday, November 29, 2006 in Union Mills. Funeral services will be held on
Saturday, December 2, 2006 at 2:00 pm at Crowe's Funeral Chapel with Rev. W.
Leon Morrow officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
Interment will be in Round Hill Baptist Church Cemetery, Union Mills, NC. November 29 Pat continues to do well. They even had her up and walking today. I talked to her on the phone, and she is in good spirits. Pat is in room 307. You may call her at (704) 316-5307. November 28, 2006 Pat Allen had her surgery today. She had a total hip replacement at Presbyterian Orthopedic Hospital in Charlotte. She is doing well and is back in her room. She is scheduled to start physical therapy tomorrow. November 20, 2006 Estelle Craig has been moved to Oak Grove Nursing Home. Powell Nanney (Frank's brother) is back home at the nursing home in Raleigh. Brenda Thomason starts chemo treatments on Tuesday (Nov 21). John Latham came through surgery with no problems. Continue to lift him up in prayer as he recovers. November 14, 2006

Sunday (November 12) when she fell and broke her pelvis. She is at
Rutherford Hospital.
John Latham is having outpatient surgery on
Tuesday (Nov 14) at Rutherford Hospital.
Barbara Evans has extended her stay in
Florida due to some complications with her blood pressure.
Powell Nanney (Frank's brother) had to be put
back in the hospital in Raleigh because his sugar count was out of control.
Eloise Deyton (Caroline Killian's mother) has
moved to Hopewell Family Care Home in Forest City.
October 29, 2006 New member, James O'Neal joined the church on a profession of faith. We will be planning James's baptism in the near future. October 29, 2006 Paul Craig (Garth's brother) passed away October 27. The funeral service is scheduled for Monday (October 30) afternoon at 2:30 at Round Hill Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery. Friends may extend their wishes to the family on Sunday evening from 6:00 - 8:00 at Crowes Funeral Home. October 19, 2006 The mother of Wayne "Buck" Ammons and mother-in-law of Christine Ammons died on Thursday. Annie Sue Ferguson Ammons, 96, of
Frog Creek Community, Union Mills, died Thursday, Oct. October 18 Randy Meyers, ASI class of '53 died this past Sunday morning. The funeral service will be at the First Methodist Church in Marietta, Georgia at 2PM on Friday. You may contact his wife, Joy, at 770-422-2660. October 16 Birdie Rosetta Galloway Vogler, 83, of
Rutherfordton, died Saturday, Oct.14, 2006, in Asheville.
September 24 Marvin Scoggins will be buried in the cemetery of the Round Hill Baptist Church on Tuesday afternoon at 4:00. September 23 Just heard that Marvin Scoggins died last night. This would be Stuart's Uncle on his mother's side. September 17
Boyd Eisenhower is at home and is
getting stronger. He still has a long way to go in his recovery.
Please pray for him to gain strength every day.
Marvin Scoggins' health is continuing
to worsen. Hospice care nurses come by twice a week to minister to
him. He is content to be at home rather than in the hospital or
hospice house. Continue to pray for the family as they go through
this ordeal.
Bud Craig has gone back to work on a
limited basis. He is traveling some with someone from the office
driving him.
September 4
Louise Keck's brother, Boyd
Eisenhower, suffered a major heart attack on Saturday (Sept 2) and
is in ICU at hospital in Hickory. They have been able to remove the
ventilator for short periods of time as he is breathing on his own a
little.
Marvin Scoggins, Eugenia Flack's
brother (Stuart Flack's uncle) has been sent home from the hospital
and given 4-6 weeks to live. Hospice is ministering to him at
home. He has the melanoma cancer.
September 3 Marvin Scoggin, class of '47 has been diagnosed with cancer in several parts of his body. He choose not to take radical treatments and just go home with the care of Hospice. His wife, JoAnn Huffman Scoggin (class of '50) will need your concerns and prayers, especially now so soon after the death of their only daughter Roxanne. August 25 Brian (Beaver) St. Clair had surgery to remove a thyroid nodule on Wednesday. It would have normally been outpatient surgery but they kept him in the hospital two nights to regulate his medicine because of his heart. -- so he came home this morning (Friday). He is doing fine. August 17 Bud Craig came home today and is doing well. Clyde Shook came home and is also doing well August 10
Bud Craig had double by-pass surgery yesterday (Aug 9) at
Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte. He is in ICU, but scheduled
to be moved to a room this afternoon (Aug 10). Everything is
looking good and he is making good progress.
We welcome into the world Brinley Maddox Clement who arrived Aug
10 shortly after 12:00 Noon. The proud Mom and Dad are Erin & Nick
Clement. He is a keeper coming in at a healthy 7 lbs 7 oz and 19
1/2 inches long. Mom and Brinley are doing fine. Proud
Grandparents Jason and Lynn Flack welcome their first grandson.
Great-Grandparents Rilla & TJ Edwards were on hand for the
delivery. Proud Great-Grandparents Pete & Betty Flack were kept up
to date by cell phone.
August 8 Bud Craig had a heart catheterization procedure done at Rutherford Hospital today (Aug 8) where they found blockage and transferred him to Carolina Medical in Charlotte. He is scheduled for open-heart surgery to do a arterial bypass tomorrow (Aug 9).

Gladys Nanney is out of the hospital and back at Restwell
Nursing Home
July 28 Gladys Nanney is back in Rutherford Hospital with continuing problems with a urinary tract infection and also dehydration. She is expected to be in the hospital over the weekend.
Clyde Shook is still at the VA Hospital in Oteen, but he has
shown signs of improvement and they are looking for a nursing home
to move him.
Hugh & Colene's daughter, Laura, broke her ankle last weekend
(July 22-23) and is recovering at home.

July 20 While the pastor is away this weekend taking care of some family business in Atlanta, we will be privileged to have Jim Diehl as our pulpit guest this Sunday for the morning and evening services. Jim is the Director of Missions for the Sandy Run Baptist Association. He was our guest speaker for Baptist Men's Day back in January.

Margie's outpatient procedure went well on Wednesday.
Kolen Flack's surgery went well on Wednesday and he came back
home the same day.
Clyde Shook was taken to the VA Hospital with pneumonia type
symptoms.
July 9 We welcome new member Elton "Jiggs" Williamson who comes to us by transfer of letter from First Baptist Church of Lithonia, GA. Jiggs is Pastor Lynn's father.
We also welcome Tyler Rylan Flack who arrived in this world
on July 8, 2006. Ryan and Leslie Flack welcome this 9lb 3oz
bundle of joy to their home. Ryan is Stuart Flack's son.
July 4 Gladys Nanney is back at the Nursing Home and is doing well.
Tracy Flack, Jason's brother, is out of the hospital after
having emergency surgery last weekend (June 24-25).
They are planning on inducing labor with Leslie Flack,
Stuart's daughter-in-law (Ryan is her husband) on Friday July
7.
June 20 Blake Ferguson was in a car accident Monday morning on his way to work on Hwy 221. He suffered some bumps and bruises but was awake and alert the whole time at the hospital. He will be sore for a few days. Pray for his body to quickly heal and have a fast recovery time. June 13 Judith Crawford, Donnie Crawford's mother, came home from the hospital. June 12 Margie, the Pastor's wife, had surgery this past Thursday (June 8) on her right foot, again. This time they broke the bone of her big toe and put in two screws. She is recovering at home.
Judith Crawford is Donnie Crawford's mother. She was taken to
the hospital on last Sunday (June 4) with pneumonia & congestive
heart failure. She had a heart attack while in the emergency room
and stopped breathing. The hospital staff was able to revive her
but she went into a coma. She stayed in ICU for several days on a
ventilator that was breathing for her. Friday she came to and they
have moved her to a private room at Rutherford Hospital. Continue
to pray for her recovery and we lift up thanksgiving to our God for
His healing hand that has brought her through this difficulty.
Donnie is our newest member as he and his wife Star joined our
church last month.
Though they are not members of our church please put these two on
your prayer list. They are both members of the community:
Grant Lloyd has suffered a stroke that has affected him mentally
and physically. He is at Oak Grove Nursing Home.
Pat Allen is having surgery (June 12) on her neck.
Baptism this Sunday (June 18) for Crissy Ford and Star Crawford.
May 30 Patty Arledge has taken a month's trip to visit her family in England. She left on Tuesday (May 30. Pray for her safety in travel and that she will have a good time visiting her family. The church voted in a special called church conference last Sunday (May 28) on a recommendation from the Nominating Committee to call Sandi McCraw as church treasurer to serve out the remainder of this years' term which goes through September 2006. Gladys Nanney's surgery went well and she is back at Restwell Nursing Home on 221.
Thalia Shook suffered a mild stroke over the weekend, but she is back
home.
Violet Hodge was taken to the Emergency Room at Rutherford Hospital
over the weekend, but was treated and released. She is at home.
May 23 Haley Ammons and Aaron Perry will be married in our church on June 24th. Hazel Nanney has been faithful in her positions as Treasurer and Recording Secretary of the Sunday School. She has decided that it is time for someone else to fill these positions. Miranda Ferguson was chosen to fill the position of Recording Secretary. May 18 Christine Ammon's daughter, Cynthia, had back surgery this week. Christine is gone to be with her in Ft. Worth, TX. Everything went well with the surgery and Cynthia is recovering well.
Surgery is scheduled for Gladys Nanney next Thursday (May 25) at
Rutherfordton to remove a foot.
May 14 New members, Donnie & Star Crawford joined the church. Donnie on transfer of letter from Bills Creek Baptist Church, and Star on a profession of faith. We will be planning Star's baptism in the near future.
May 12
Hazel came home Wednesday May 10. Fever has gone down. They are going
to treat the carotid artery with medication. NO surgery at this time.
The report on Alvin is that the kidney stone is too small for surgery.
Doctors have instructed him to just keep an eye on things.
They are going to have to remove Gladys Nanney's foot sometime in the
near future.
Charles Nanney was taken to the hospital in Winston-Salem early on
Thursday morning for congestive heart failure. Last report was that he was
doing well.
May 8 Garth Craig, age 95, died at Hospice House in Forest City. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Round Hill Baptist Church. Burial followed in the church cemetery. The family received friends on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m at Crowes Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Rutherford County.
May 7th Update:
Gladys is out of the hospital and in the nursing home at Restwell
on 221 south of Rutherfordton.
Hazel has blockage in the carotid artery, but they are still working on
the infection that is causing the fever before they do any surgery.
Alvin has Kidney stones, surgery sometime next week (May 7).
May 3rd Update:
Hugh Nanney is at home and doing well.
Gladys Nanney was taken to Rutherford Hospital this morning (May 3) with
pneumonia.
Hazel Nanney still at Rutherford Hospital. Showing some improvement, her
fever has gone down some.
May 1, 2006. Hugh Nanney successfully completed his procedure today, but is being kept overnight at the hospital for observation. April 30, 2006. Hazel Nanney was admitted to Rutherford Hospital with a high fever. She is getting antibiotic therapy. We welcome Crissy Ford who came forward April 30 to join the church by confession of faith in Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and Savior. We will be planning her baptism in the near future. Alexa Isabelle Jekov was born on April 11th. She weighed 6 lb 8oz. and was 19 inches long. She is the daughter of proud parents, Apostol and Zorie Jekov. Mrs. Irene Koon died during the night on Sunday, April 23rd. She was our oldest member, having turned 97 years old in March. |
